DIGITAL TAYLOR BROTHERS!
We are delighted to announce that we took delivery of the very first Heidelberg Linoprint C901 plus digital press on 1st March. Not only is it the first one of its kind to be installed in the UK it’s also our first digital press. The C901 plus is an upgrade on the already hugely successful and well established Heidelberg/Ricoh C901, which is leading the industry in new installations by a country mile. It is the most productive machine in its class and boasts colour quality and accuracy that would normally be associated with far more costly machines.
We spent the weeks preceding it’s arrival reorganising and ‘making over’ our pre-press department to accommodate it and have ended up with a superb working environment - see pics . The new digital print department is being managed by James Shield who is also our colour management expert so it is in very safe hands and he is being assisted by two other equally enthusiastic fully trained members of staff. Thus far the quality of the work we have produced has been outstanding and comparable to the work coming off our Heidelberg litho machines. We expect it to play a major role in our service by offering our customers short run work at the economic rates they expect but without any compromise on quality. We also expect to be able offer variable data and personalisation in due course.
To get the new press off to a good start we sent out the e-shot below to all our customer contacts just to make sure that everyone knows about it. This is a hugely important development for the company and whilst we maybe could arguably have made the move into digital print sooner, the relatively new access to the right level of quality and reliability which Heidelberg has brought to digital print makes us feel we have timed it just right.
In the next few weeks we will also be installing a complete booklet making system which will not only enable us to produce the brochure and booklet work from the press but also the shorter run jobs being printed on our litho machines. More details to follow.
